My Hair and I At some point in a woman's life, she is, if like most women, unhappy with her hair. A woman with straight hair wishes for curly ringlets. A woman with curly hair wants stick-straight locks. Thick and coarse desires to be fine and thinner. Fine and thin begs for thick hair. I was one of those women. My hair has an energy, personality, and life of her own. I refer to my hair as "she" because, although by technical definition my hair is not a separate living being, and although I have no proof of her life to show others, I know that she not only grows and reproduces (two characteristics by which many measure life), but she responds to stimuli, shows emotions, and can reason. For much of my life, my hair and I were diametrically opposed in appearance, personality, and temperament. On my head is a thick mane of jet-black coarse curly hair. Each hair is muscular, with enough heft and hutzpah to hold a 5-pound dumbbell. I, in contrast, am a very petite girl with the arm strength of a gnat. My hair is wild. I am demure. My hair is boisterous, I, except occasionally, am composed. My hair is an extrovert, gaining energy from those around her. I am an introvert, preferring to curl up with a good book. For many years, I coveted anyone's hair that was anything that my hair wasn't. Despite our differences, we have come to a mutual understanding. And, now, I can say, with some confidence, that my hair and I are friends, not just forced to be together because of genetics. But I can admit this only after years of hard lessons and experience. I can't remember the day my hair and I parted ways. We used to get along when we were young! Displayed in the ponytail fountain on top of my head, she was quite cooperative.... ...at night, I loved my hair, every single strand of it. I loved her ability to be straight or curly, sleek and sexy or fun and bouncy. I found myself brushing my hands through my hair, and she cherished the affection. I bought every hair product Pamela used in my hair, hopeful I could shape my hair myself. And, although it took a few weeks to learn Pamela's styling techniques, my hair and I quickly found a rhythm. We realized we didn't have to be enemies. We experimented with dozens of different hairstyles, lengths, products, and appliances, and my hair was amused by all of them. As much as possible, I tried to enjoy her assets, and she tried to respect my needs. Of course, occasionally, my hair would turn her mood at an inopportune time, but I was no longer caught by surprise when this happened. My hair and I have happily co-existed like this for many years.

A History of God : The 4,000-Year Quest of Judaism, Christianity and Islam by Armstrong, Karen

The writing of Karen Armstrong actually notes the human views of the existence of God in three major designs of religious belief in the society today, namely that of the Judaism, Christianity and Islam.One reason is that the roots of the Jewish religion go back some 4,000 years in history and other major religions are indebted to its Scriptures to a greater or lesser degree. Christianity, founded by Jesus (Hebrew, Ye†§shu†²a‛), a first-century Jew, has its roots in the Hebrew Scriptures. And as any reading of the Qur’Ä n will show, IslÄ m also owes much to those scriptures. (Qur’Ä n, surah 2:49-57; 32:23,  24) Thus, when we examine the Jewish religion, it could be noted that the roots of other religions are well examined just the same.Simply put, Judaism is the religion of a people. Therefore, a convert becomes part of the Jewish people as well as the Jewish religion. It is a monotheistic religion in the strictest sense and holds that God interv enes in human history, especially in relation to the Jews. Jewish worship involves several annual festivals and various customs. (See box, pages 230-1.) Although there are no creeds or dogmas accepted by all Jews, the confession of the oneness of God as expressed in the Shema, a prayer based on Deuteronomy 6:4 (JP), forms a central part of synagogue worship: â€Å"HEAR, O ISRAEL: THE LORD OUR GOD, THE LORD IS ONE.†This belief in one God was passed on to Christianity and IslÄ m. According to Armstrong: â€Å"This sublime pronouncement of absolute monotheism was a declaration of war against all polytheism .  .  . In the same way, the Shema excludes the trinity of the Christian creed as a violation of the Unity of God.† The three major monotheistic religions of the world are Judaism, Christianity, and IslÄ m.But by the time Muá ¸ ¥ammad appeared toward the beginning of the seventh century  C.E., the first two religions, as far as he was concerned, had wandered from the path of truth. In fact, according to some IslÄ mic commentators, the Qur’Ä n implies rejection of Jews and of Christians in stating: â€Å"Not (the path) of those who earn Thine anger nor of those who go astray.† (Surah 1:7, MMP) Why is that?A Qur’Ä nic commentary states: â€Å"The People of the Book went wrong: The Jews in breaking their Covenant, and slandering Mary and Jesus .  .  . and the Christians in raising Jesus the Apostle to equality with God† by means of the Trinity doctrine.—Surah 4:153-176, AYA. The principal teaching of IslÄ m, for utter simplicity, is what is known as the shahÄ dah, or confession of faith, which every Muslim knows by heart: â€Å"La ilÄ h illa AllÄ h; Muá ¸ ¥ammad rasÃ… «l AllÄ h† (No god but Allah; Muá ¸ ¥ammad is the messenger of Allah). This agrees with the Qur’Ä nic expression, â€Å"Your God is One God; there is no God save Him, the Beneficent, the Merciful.†(Surah 2:163, MMP) This thought was stated 2,000 years earlier with the ancient call to Israel: â€Å"Listen, O Israel: Jehovah our God is one Jehovah.† (Deuteronomy 6:4) Jesus repeated this  foremost  command, which is recorded at Mark 12:29, about 600  years before Muá ¸ ¥ammad, and nowhere did Jesus claim to be God or to be equal to Him.—Mark 13:32; John 14:28; 1  Corinthians 15:28. Regarding God’s uniqueness, the Qur’Ä n states: â€Å"So believe in God and His apostles. Say not ‘Trinity’: desist: it will be better for you: for God is One God.†(Surah 4:171, AYA)However, we should note that true Christianity does not teach a Trinity. That is a doctrine of pagan origin introduced by apostates of Christendom after the death of Christ and the apostles.

The loss of human dignity is the major concern when putting a price n human body parts, because of the threat of devaluing the life of a human being. My position on the debate of the centralization of organs for transplant is that organs should not be sold. Respectively, when we go to the hospital for broken bones, and infectious insect or animal bites are Just as fatal if medical treatment is not administered in a timely manner.Medical treatment is based on a need base, and organs for transplant should remain on a need bases. The best suggestions made in my opinion is by Lloyd Cohen, Ph. D. , J. D. Who states, â€Å"The best way to increase the supply of transplant organs is by establishing a future Market in cadavers organs†, by a contractual agreement, like the one we have here in Texas by signing the donor opt on the back of driver's license or by approval from the family of a donor (organelle. Or the donation of an organ a financial incentive for burial expense that is called survivor benefits would help to increase the organ supply, while giving some financial relief to those who could not afford to purchase a burial plan for their loved en. My Moral Judgment with a Moral Argument I think that good will is the moral principle of an individual who has made the decision to donate a vital organ, and that it is a very personal, and private one.Also it should be made known to the family so that there is no misunderstanding about the procedure to remove a vital organ (s) after departure. Religious folk might be offended by thinking that the body is desecrated, but if informed before death embers of the family may be more likely to honor a donor's agreement. The willingness to save a life after the finality of your own is right by weighing the ratio of good that the action would produce. The only consequence of the donor is that there is no longer a use for the organ (s) donated. The reasoning in wanting to help cure the illness of organ failure for goodness sake from the sense of duty is a true m oral worth.Women unable to bear children because of organ failure who later had a successful organ transplant were able to experience the Joy of child birth. Conclusion In my conclusion I would like to mention a course study from last quarter, and it was World Religions.I learned that in every religion one seeks individual perfection during the course of their life time, and that most people reach that perfection before their finality in death. Eighty-three percent of individuals in the world has an affiliation with one or more sacred, and holy religions, and seventeen percent with no religion at all, and that most sacred scriptures are edited to teach the continuance of holy, and sacred ways as it pertains to the changing time or era. In thos e sacred religions the one common duty is to better humanity.
